Nehemiah Community Reinvestment Fund and Catholic Healthcare West
Collaborate to Assist Nonprofit Organizations
Sacramento, CA - June 19, 2007-Nehemiah Community Reinvestment Fund (NCRF), a nonprofit community development loan
fund based in Sacramento, California, today announced that it has joined with Catholic Healthcare West to make two loans to Sacramento-area
nonprofit organizations. PEACE for Families (PFF), also known as Placer Women's Center, received an 18-month, $1 million construction loan
to construct a new 44-bed shelter in Auburn for survivors of rape and domestic abuse. The facility will also house the organization's administrative
offices. PFF provides critically needed emergency and transitional housing to especially vulnerable members of our community. This new facility
will enable PFF to provide shelter services to 500 clients annually and serve 3,000 clients annually in all of its programs.
River Oak Center for Children (ROCC) received a four year, $3 million construction and permanent loan to construct two buildings
totaling 25,000 square feet on its mental health services campus in Carmichael. ROCC provides essential mental health services to 900 children per day.
Construction of these two buildings will complete the build-out of the organization's mental health campus, which includes 44-beds for residential treatment,
and enable the co-location of ROCC's counseling and education facilities with their administrative offices.
"NCRF is delighted to collaborate with Catholic Healthcare West to provide the affordable, flexible capital needed to build these important
community facilities," said Peggy Jones, Director of Nehemiah Community Reinvestment Fund. "NCRF and CHW share a common goal of supporting nonprofit organizations
providing housing and human services to underserved members of our community. By working collaboratively, we are able to maximize the impact of our capital to
serve significant numbers of people while keeping the cost of capital low to the nonprofits with which we work."
Catholic Healthcare West's Community Investment Program provides expanded access to capital for underserved communities. Since 1992, our communities
received more than $69 million through this program. CHW's below-market interest rate loans are offered to nonprofit organizations that work to improve the health
and quality of life in their communities through the development of affordable housing for low-income families and seniors, community facilities such as child care and
community clinics and workforce development. Types of CHW Community Investments are Direct Loan, Intermediary Loan, Line of Credit, Linked Deposit, Equity Capital and
Guarantees.
