NCRF

In addition to providing loans, NCRF offers free technical assistance (TA) to its borrowers and potential borrowers. Through TA services the Loan Fund assists in building the capacity of nonprofits around the country and further invests in our borrowers. The goal of the Loan Fund is to build the capacity of our borrowers so that at the end of their loan term they are a stronger organization.

One-on-one technical assistance is the tool that will enable NCRF to make successful loans to smaller, less experienced organizations developing worthwhile projects. NCRF staff will work in partnership with borrowers and potential borrowers to help them improve their capacity, both organizationally and with respect to particular project-types. For instance, many churches own land and have a dream of developing affordable housing for their community. However, while they are experts at serving their congregations, often they lack the organizational structure and development experience to enable them to accomplish their goal. By working with them to determine their financial capacity, encouraging them to develop organizational structures and systems that facilitate accountability and financial solvency, referring them to appropriate resources for in-depth technical assistance as well as reputable and affordable consultants, NCRF can make loans that conventional lenders would not make as well as grow future customers. We believe our ability to help communities realize their dream is important.

NCRF staff welcomes calls from potential borrowers to discuss projects. Please contact us.

Our staff is also available for conferences and workshops. We have experience teaching classes to community development lenders as well as community organizations. Some of the workshops we have offered in the past:

  • Construction Lending
  • What Construction Lenders Want to Know
  • What You Need to Know About Buying a Building
  • Financing for Nonprofits - An Insider's Guide
